Hello outhere,
I'm creating this thread, as FW is completely disappearing. It's been a few weeks now, but now it's just unthinkable. There isn't even FW battle in US timers anymore. I am (or more exactly my eve character) is part of a channel that promote interaction beetween Eve Online and Dust 514 in gal FW. In other words, pilots are proposing to make OB in FW. However we encounter 2 main problems that are dust issues :
- First, the matchmaking, like I just said, now that almost everyone got his APEX in whatever faction they are playing, FW is truly abandonned, it saddens me as FW games can be interesting in a lot of ways. I don't know if you have consider it, but to make FW attractive again, maybe you could do like in eve : buying items with LP and ISK and then sell them for a lot of iskies. I think it is a start point to rebuild the FW.
- Second the OB spam message in FW. Until the strikes update, eve strikes were the only available in FW, and in one sense it was better. Now with the "orbital message" spam, players don't even know they have an eve strike, unless you shout at them with your mic... Would it be possible first to delete the spam (because it's just so annoying to have an entire part of your screen to be blue), and if possible to have a warning with different colors. As an exemple, blue for WP strikes and green or red for Eve strike. I think it would be a very useful mechanic for both FW and PC.
- Last thing, I would like to talk on the behalf of my eve mates. On the last weeks, corporation in Eve such as Aiderons Robotics, ourselves and other gal-mil corporations and players have been fighting in Heydieles (a star system under caldari control). A few days ago, the system has finally fallen under the gal-mil flag. In november 2013, this system was part of the gallente militia, but was finally lost. In what it is related to Dust ?
Well it is simple, back in 2013, Dust matchmaking was allowing us to choose the sectors / planets where we wanted to land. This allowed a coordinated action on both eve and dust, and not only from my corporation. However, the nowadays matchmaking that is supposed to give fights "faster" is broken and do not allow such interactivity. (I'll never damn the 1.7 enough I think) For those who don't know, FW battles have an impact in Eve in the form of a bonus. But as a good image can replace a long text... FW see from eve
Under the message that indicate 4% of contestation, there is the bar that indicate the status of the system everytime (you see the message because I point my mouse on it). And just under that there is the little planet with the flag. Though it is small, this represent the Dust impact on this system. And when you are on the verge to take or loose a system those percents seems like the most beautiful thing you've ever seen (provided your militia is winning on dust). The dust bonus is only present in some systems not in all of them.
My question here is for CCP : Where does the interactivity beetween the two games stand. Are you planning to improve it or simply to let it down and rot ? And I'm not talking only about FW here...
For those who may ask, the name of the channel you can see at the bottom is Lucent Echelon. I don't know who his it's creator, but there are severals pilots on it.
Thanks for reading. While I don't expect CCP to answer here, I just hope it will help you guys to understand how fast the FW on dust side need improvments and changes.

It's not only the event, FW is being deserted for weeks now.
LOOKMOM NOHANDS wrote: When it comes to district selection this is actually very possible. There are mechanics in Eve which allow pilots to make Dust battles happen in certain districts. Generally this does not affect anything because of the people searching generally being randoms on one side and a lot of the time these battles just turn into failed attacks that did not affect anything at all.
I don't know exactly how the mechanic works, but I'm pretty sure it is more related to Dust than to Eve. In Eve, almost every system is contested a bit (well at least in the caldari-gallente sector). So there should be no problem to create battles on those planets.
LOOKMOM NOHANDS wrote: As for orbital support it was a very sad day when they added the standard OBs back to FW. Pilots do not wish to even attempt to drop as now there is nothing special about their orbital and it will go undropped 9 times out of 10 thanks to the message spam that you pointed out.
If it can reassure you, most of eve pilots are like crabes when it come to help dusties. The main reason you see pilots wanting to drop OB in FW is because it's the best way to farm LP. Providing you are a bit lucky, you can gain a lot of LPs while using pretty cheap ships.
LOOKMOM NOHANDS wrote: There are many things that are pretty simple that could be changed but I have pretty much given up on trying to point them out as FW just seems to not be cared about by most of the player base and only very little cared about by CCP. It is sad to see what could be such an awesome things falling to ruins.
People aren't interested in FW because they are loosing gear for a pitiful reward. Outside of the skill requirments for modules and specialized weapons, there is nothing in there that's worth fighting for.
Another idea could be to have corps or mercs to have like in eve the possibility to engage for a faction. If they do so, they could obtain a bonus on LP and also have a pay that take in account your standing. As an exemple, winning 2 millions of isk if you win 5 battles.
But who knows, maybe we'll have news at the fanfest...
